About

OPTAGE Sonezaki Data Center
Starts operation on January 29, 2026

OPTAGE has long delivered high‑speed, high‑quality IT infrastructure—such as fiber‑optic networks and data centers—centered in the Kansai region.

Leveraging this experience, we are launching a new site: OPTAGE Sonezaki Data Center (OC1), designed around “connectivity” that flexibly links to a wide range of access points.
OC1 provides a secure, high‑performance, and highly flexible foundation to help accelerate customers’ businesses.

Location

Excellent access from city center

Osaka is attracting attention as a secondary capital for Japan to complement Tokyo, and this region has become essential to BCP measures and access point expansion.

OC1 is located only a 12‑minute walk from Osaka Station, in the center of the city. It also offers convenient access from Shin‑Osaka Station, Osaka Itami Airport, and Kansai International Airport, making it easy to use for customers across Japan and overseas.

Why OC1

Connectivity

OC1 is built on a “connectivity” concept, offering a wide variety of connection options.
OC1 is carrier-neutral data center that allows customers to freely select and use their designated carrier services.

Connectivity

Excellent connectivity to cloud and internet services

At OC1, we offer IX (Internet Exchange) connectivity, connections to a wide range of carriers, and direct cloud connectivity services.
Furthermore, OC1 is located within 3 km of the Dojima and Shinsaibashi areas, which host access points for major hyperscale clouds and content providers. By establishing direct links to data centers in these areas, you can build a low‑latency, highly stable network environment.

Data center interconnection supporting both domestic and international connectivity

Leveraging Optage’s own optical fiber network across the Kansai region, we deliver high‑quality, reliable network services.
We also provide an all‑fiber network in partnership with major data centers in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and offer subsea cable connectivity between Japan and Singapore—enabling extensive data center interconnection both domestically and internationally.

Data center optimized for AI

In preparation for the accelerating generative AI era, OC1 will also serve as a connectivity data center dedicated to AI inference.
We deliver a flexible, high‑quality AI platform as a one‑stop service by performing power‑intensive AI model training at an AI data center and leveraging OC1 in the urban core for latency‑sensitive inference.
We plan to establish an AI data center in Mihama, Fukui Prefecture by fiscal year 2026, enabling a one‑stop AI platform powered by our own optical fiber network. For details, click here

Latest Tier 4-equivalent data center

The design complies with the JDCC Data Center Facility Standard* at a Tier 4–equivalent level, which is the highest rank, featuring seismic isolation, redundant power systems, emergency generators capable of running continuously for 72+ hours without refueling, and 24/7 on‑site operations.

  • * Standards specified by JDCC that indicate the quality and reliability of data centers. The standards contain items for evaluating the quality of data centers, including aspects such as security, the buildings, and the power supply equipment.

Operational support leveraging our extensive experience

By bringing together the know‑how we’ve accumulated over many years operating Kansai Electric Power’s system platforms, we deliver high levels of security and reliability—so you can entrust your data and servers with confidence.

Operational support leveraging our extensive experience

Cost reduction through rack consolidation with high-density racks

At OC1, we can host high‑density racks. With abundant power capacity, we provide ample per‑rack power, enabling greater equipment density.
By consolidating into high‑density racks, operating costs can be reduced through higher‑capacity data storage, improved energy efficiency, and simpler cabling and operations.

Rack power: 8kVA or more
  • Note: Contracted power can be used from 1 kVA.

Carbon-zero environment compliant with RE100*1

By sourcing power through Kansai Electric Power’s Renewable Energy ECO Plan and a corporate PPA*2, we achieve effectively 100% renewable energy procurement.
We reduce power consumption by adopting the latest high‑efficiency cooling systems and energy‑saving equipment, supporting customers in meeting their ESG and sustainability goals as a “carbon‑neutral” green data center.

Carbon-zero environment compliant with RE100*1
  • *1 RE100 is a global business initiative that promotes 100% renewable energy for corporations, which is administered by The Climate Group and the CDP, international environmental NGOs.
  • *2 PPA: Power Purchase Agreement. It is a power supply/procurement method in which consumers and power generators enter into a long-term, fixed-price electricity purchase contract via a retail electricity provider. At OC1, under a corporate PPA, we expect to source the equivalent of approximately 10% of our annual electricity consumption.
Note: RE100 compliance is based on current requirements as of December 2025. Standards may change due to future revisions.
